Happy Thanksgiving, sweet friends! I hope everyone is doing something nice for the day with family and friends!
God was in my thoughts last night before I went to sleep and I came up with the title “Progress means Purpose.” I feel like this is such a good topic to talk about on Thanksgiving because for one we are hard on ourselves. Well at least I know I am on myself.
I take everything to heart and when I feel like I am not getting to my end goal in life I feel like I am making no progress at all.
God has told me differently. I know you all have heard the saying “Enjoy the journey not the destination.” I cling to this at times because sometimes progress takes longer than what we have in mind.
I am here to tell you that ALL progress is progress. Read that again.
Your journey is beautiful and it’s something to truly be thankful for. God is working on you everyday if you let Him. Let Him bloom you to be a beautiful flower. One that has so many petals you just can’t count them all.
The petals standing for all that you have overcome with God and all the progress you have made with God, despite the difficult times that found you in this life.
Sometimes growth comes in seasons. Not every season brings growth. Some seasons are just continuing to trust God in the discomfort, or some seasons are just doing all we can to be happy and content.
I want you to know that is OKAY! Not everyday is going to be an epiphany.
Gifts of Grace – Romans 12
3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members,[e] and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads,[f] with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness
9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit,[g] serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
The scripture above means so much to me and I will tell you why. We are here not for us, not for our friends, not for our mother and father. We are here for GOD and God alone. I think sometimes we all forget this as we let selfishness take over our ways and ambitions.
When we are right with the Lord and when we are doing the work of God, He will sustain us with His mighty power.
He will show us the way for He is the way, the truth, and the life! (John 14:6)
So when we feel like we are staying still in our growth, go to (2 Peter 3:18)
18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
I hope this helps all who struggle with progress the way I do. I know sometimes God will put us somewhere just to show us or teach us something as we sit in that same spot a while.
God is in no rush, we are. Stand firm in your faith and stand on the solid rock of Jesus Christ and He will lead you to victory. Remember the work has been done and your debt has been paid.
And for that, I am so THANKFUL!!!!!!!!!!!
