Have you ever felt guilty over something you have done that maybe you look back and think “I could have done that completely different? What was I thinking??”
I know we all have felt that way. Wanna know how I know? It’s because we are ALL sinners. Every single one of us. None of us are perfect and do everything correctly. That is impossible.
Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
Thing is, we have to remember that God knows we are going to mess up, but that never changes His love for us and His want for us to still pursue Him.
I don’t know about you, but that is so comforting to me. To know that God wants us sin and all. Nothing will ever break apart the forgiveness that He wants to give to us.
What’s most important though is that we recognize our sin and feel badly about it. That should give you encouragement for several reasons. For one thing, a lot of people sin and don’t think there’s anything wrong with it but yet God has given you the ability and the opening of your eyes to see how destructive it can be.
There’s always good news though; God does not want you to live with any guilt. He wants you to know and fully experience the forgiveness He has to give!
God does not simply overlook our sin and say, “You’re forgiven.” God sees our sin but is fully ready to forgive us because Jesus completely took OUR sin on Himself and paid for it by His death on the cross.
Don’t think our sin isn’t serious, because it most certainly is. It cost Jesus incredible suffering and his life. BUT from the moment we received Christ into our lives, His forgiveness is ours.
1John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
